Surgery Clinic Led by
Senior Sister Carole Ransom, the Practice
Nurses in the Clinic have between them a wealth of nursing experience. They
share the work-load Monday to Friday 8.30am until 6.30pm.
As a team they have clear lines of
responsibility and accountability with set standards and monitoring. The team is a
flexible resource for all patients, regardless of age, able to detect problems, assess
individual needs and act as the patients advocate when necessary.
Apart from routine treatment-room procedures,
such as ear syringing, dressings, immunisations/vaccinations, health promotion is a key
issue. There are Nurse-led clinics for Asthma, Diabetes, Hypertension and Smoking
Cessation. The Team are first in line for the initiation of emergency treatment and also
assess minor injuries and illness as required.
The Practice Nurses are part of The Surgery's
multi-disciplinary and integrated team who communicate and share experiences and skills.
They are professional people offering a high standard of medical care.
Treatments and Clinics Available at The Surgery
Minor Surgery
All the Doctors are qualified to carry
out minor operations. These are performed at special sessions, after consultation
with your Doctor. Dr. Brudenell has lead responsibility in this area and
carries out regular fortnightly clinics.
Family Planning
All the Doctors have undergone
specialist training and are available to advise on all aspects of family planning,
including counselling before starting a family, problems with infertility, or on
contraceptive needs. Dr. Caswell is available for the fitting of
coils.
Ante-Natal
The Doctors, working in liaison

throughout pregnancy. The Midwife attends the surgery every Tuesday afternoon for
routine ante-natal care.

Doctors carry out examinations
at 8 weeks, to ensure that your child is
developing normally. The Health Visitor
runs a Child Health Clinic at the surgery on the 2nd Thursday every month
between 2pm and 4pm with a Doctor in attendance for routine examinations and
to advise on any problems. The Clinic is designed to coincide with first vaccinations.
